WASHINGTON (Sinclair Broadcast Group) — The Daily Mail reports former Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin backed her emails up to her husband Anthony Weiner’s laptop despite telling the FBI she did not. The emails were created in 2013 and dealt with work-related messages involving the State Department.

The website says Abedin’s emails were placed on Weiner’s laptop through a BlackBerry archiving program. A tech expert tells The Daily Mail that Abedin would’ve had to have activated the backup program on her own. It is believed she plugged her phone into her laptop.

Some of the subjects discussed in the emails included Israel and other Middle Eastern issues from 2010 to 2012.

These emails were discovered after Anthony Weiner’s laptop was investigated by the FBI days before the election in October 2016.

Former FBI director James Comey felt at the time that he was obligated to tell Congress about emails he discovered from Abedin while investigating her husband for sexting. The letter was sent to congressional Republicans and Democrats as well as FBI staff. Two days before the election, Comey confirmed that nothing new was found in the laptop.

Abedin reportedly told FBI agents that there was no way for her to preserve emails on a private server with Clinton. She also said many of the emails were lost after she transitioned away from the State Department.

Notes from her meeting with the FBI stated, “she had only accessed <a href=”http://clintonemail.com” rel=”nofollow”>clintonemail.com</a> through a web portal and did not have a method for archiving her old emails prior to the transition.”
